Introducing Advanced Levels of OpenStack Certifications will be the Next Step
EXIN has unveiled a generic OpenStack open source cloud certification, called EXIN Foundation Certification in OpenStack Software. This vendor-neutral exam program is aimed at ICT professionals who want to have their basic knowledge and understanding of OpenStack being tested and certified. Our next step in 2015 will be the launch of a more technically oriented OpenStack certification aimed at developers and programmers.
The EXIN Foundation Certification in OpenStack Software adds to our overall cloud certification portfolio and provides ICT professionals with an official stamp of approval for their knowledge and competencies in this area. The OpenStack variant is a bit different than our general basic certification on cloud, with a certain level of Linux knowledge being a prerequisite (although notmandatory).
The Foundation exam program has a fairly technical focus. It provides an entry-level introduction to OpenStack - the free and open source set of software tools for building and managing cloud computing platforms for public and private clouds. It covers an overview of the basic components of the OpenStack infrastructure, such as Storage, Identity Management and Networking.
This certification will ensure corporates and Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) that their ICT professionals have generic knowledge and understanding of the OpenStack subject and its organizational implications.
EXIN’s Foundation level OpenStack exam is a true vendor-neutral product, while HP has been an important technology partner for the transmission of hands-on and up-to-date market knowledge. Although the Foundation Certification in OpenStack Software will be widely available through our global exam channels, HP is EXIN’s launching partner for worldwide distribution of the Foundation Certification in OpenStack Software exams through their global HP Education Services organization.
The Foundation Certification in OpenStack Software exam typically fits a 3-day training course. For EXIN partners a preparation guide is available, containing information on exam content; exam requirements; literature references; target group details. A sample exam is also available.
As EXIN has expanded the advanced level exams recently, with added certification offerings such as Secure Programming and Cloud Technical Advanced there are plans to launch more advanced levels of OpenStack exams as well. In 2015, our next step will be to introduce a deep technically oriented OpenStack certification within the OpenStack program aimed at developers and programmers. Aligned with OpenStack’s modular approach, this EXIN certification will most likely start with a Neutron-based offering, followed by other certification possibilities like Swift and Cinder.
